Digester lining and repair
Kraft digesters carry hot sulfate-rich liquor that thins linings and corrodes every weld and access port over a single campaign.
What is failing
Kraft digesters run hot sulfate-rich liquor that grinds down conventional linings and corrodes every weld and access port. A single campaign can thin the shell enough to threaten the next run. Once the liner fails, the mill faces either an extended outage or a welded liner replacement, both of which stop production.
How AAS does it
Our crew prepares the interior and applies a ceramic-filled high-temperature immersion lining built for hot chemical service, supported by the Belzona 1391T system. Where acid attack drives the failure, we add a chemical-resistant overlay matched to the liquor. The repair cures cold, so there is no liner-replacement weld cycle and no hot work in a confined vessel.
Typically applied with Belzona 1391T, Belzona 4341, matched to the service conditions.
The digester returns to campaign with a fresh immersion barrier over the shell and welds, avoiding the cost and downtime of a welded liner swap.
