About AAS
Who Advanced Applications Specialists is and how we fit into your maintenance plan.
What does Advanced Applications Specialists (AAS) do?
AAS is an industrial coating and repair contractor based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are the applicator. Our factory-trained Belzona crews repair, protect, and rebuild plant equipment in place, and we also apply high-performance epoxy and coating systems. The work is cold-applied, so facilities keep running while pumps, pipes, tanks, and concrete get back to working condition.
What is the difference between AAS and Belzona?
Belzona manufactures the polymer repair composites and protective coatings. AAS is the independent applicator that installs them in your facility. You hire AAS to assess the problem, select the right system for the service conditions, and apply it correctly on site to the manufacturer's standards.
How long has AAS been in business?
AAS has more than 25 years of industrial coating and repair experience. The company is owned and operated by Nicholas Oufnac and works out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
What areas does AAS serve?
AAS is based in Baton Rouge and serves plants and facilities throughout Louisiana. We regularly work along the Mississippi River industrial corridor and travel for the right project. Call (225) 751-1930 to confirm coverage for your site.
Why repair equipment instead of replacing it?
Repair keeps assets in service without replacement lead times or the cost of new equipment. Cold-applied composite repairs rebuild worn and corroded metal to working tolerances and add corrosion, erosion, and chemical protection. That extends asset life and defers capital spending.
Services and capabilities
What AAS repairs and protects, and how the cold-applied approach keeps you in service.
What equipment and surfaces can AAS repair or protect?
We work on metal, concrete, and elastomer assets: pumps, valves, pipework, storage tanks and process vessels, heat exchangers, structural steel, concrete floors and bunds, roofs, conveyor belts, and machinery bases. Our eleven capabilities span metal repair and rebuilding, corrosion protection, tank and vessel linings, leak sealing and composite pipe repair, erosion and abrasion linings, concrete repair and chemical-resistant flooring, high-temperature coatings, and more.
Can AAS make repairs while our equipment stays in service?
Often, yes. Our systems are cold-applied, so there is no hot work and no hot-work permit to pull. Many repairs, including live-leak sealing and composite pipe wraps, are completed in service or on a planned turnaround. That avoids the isolation, welding, and downtime a conventional repair would require.
Can you seal a leak without shutting down the line?
In many cases. AAS seals live leaks and reinforces corroded or holed pipe with engineered composite wraps applied to recognized standards such as ISO 24817 and ASME PCC-2, frequently while the line stays in service. We evaluate each leak for temperature, pressure, and media before committing to a live repair.
What is Belzona, and why cold-applied?
Belzona is a family of polymer repair composites and protective coatings that cure at ambient temperature. Cold-applied means no flame, no welding, and no hot-work permits, which is safer around flammable process media and usually avoids a shutdown. The cured systems rebuild metal to working tolerances and protect surfaces against corrosion, erosion, and chemical attack.
Do you handle high-temperature and corrosion-under-insulation (CUI) work?
Yes. AAS coats hot pipework and equipment in service to help control corrosion under insulation and to protect surfaces that operate above ambient temperature.
Can AAS install anti-slip and chemical-resistant flooring?
Yes. We install slip-resistant surfacing for walkways, stairs, platforms, and ramps, and chemical-resistant floors, bunds, and secondary containment for areas exposed to spills, immersion, and traffic.
Safety and qualification
The safety record and prequalifications plants ask for before a contractor comes on site.
Is AAS safety-qualified to work in our plant?
Yes. AAS maintains an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.89, and our crews carry OSHA, confined space, fall protection, hazardous communication, drug and alcohol awareness, and hand and power tool safety training.
Is AAS registered with contractor prequalification networks?
Yes. AAS is registered and prequalified through leading third-party contractor safety and compliance networks, including Avetta, Veriforce, Highwire, DISA, the Alliance Safety Council, and Safety Pro Resources. We also hold memberships with industry organizations such as AMPP, TAPPI, and ILTA.
Are your applicators certified?
Our crews are factory-trained Belzona applicators with NACE-certified applicator support. The people applying the system are trained on the specific products and procedures your repair calls for.
Working with AAS
How to get a quote, reach us for an emergency, and what a project looks like.
How do I get a quote or start a project?
Use the Request a Project form on this site or call (225) 751-1930. Tell us what is failing and the service conditions, and we will recommend an approach. There is no online checkout. Every job is scoped and quoted to the specific asset.
Do you offer emergency or after-hours service?
Yes. AAS provides 24-hour on-call service for urgent failures and live leaks. Call (225) 751-1930 and we will help you triage the problem. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
What does a typical project look like?
We identify the problem with your engineering team, engineer a solution matched to the real service conditions, and provide the products and application. The work is performed in the field or in a controlled shop environment, depending on the asset.
How much does a repair cost?
Pricing depends on the asset, the extent of the damage, access, and the system required, so we quote each job individually. AAS does not publish set prices or offer online checkout. Send the details through the Request a Project form and we will scope it.
Have equipment that needs to stay in service?
Tell us what is failing. We respond quickly, and we offer 24-hour on-call service.
