Leak Sealing

Pipe and tank leak sealing

Pinholes, through-wall defects, and corrosion pits open leak paths in pipe and tank walls, often on wet or oil-contaminated steel.

The problem

What is failing

Pinholes, through-wall defects, and corrosion pits open leak paths in pipe and tank walls, and the steel is often wet or oil-contaminated by the time the leak shows. Conventional adhesives will not bond to a damp, dirty surface, so a quick patch fails and the leak returns. Welding on a thinned, contaminated wall risks blowing through and triggers a hot-work permit on a line that may be carrying product.

Our method

How AAS does it

AAS rebuilds the corroded wall and seals the defects with cold-cure compounds formulated to bond to damp and contaminated steel. Our crew prepares the area as far as the conditions allow, fills the pit or pinhole, and rebuilds wall thickness back toward the original profile. The repair cures at ambient temperature with no welding.

The result

The line or tank returns to service without hot work, even where the surface stayed wet or oily. The wall carries its load again and the leak is closed.
